Co-Creating Euroculture Project

IP2022 Student Project

Introduction

Actions speak louder than words. During the IP, we are not only interested in talking about the various utopias and dystopias of democracy, and discussing its threats, discontents, and backsliding tendencies. We understand that democracy is not just theory, it is practice. In order for democratic processes to take hold, we also need to engage in them from the bottom-up, make them meaningful, and deliver on their results. In this spirit, we propose to engage students in co-creating new and innovative ideas on how to develop Erasmus Mundus as an EU-level project, starting at home with the MA in Euroculture Programme.

Using the concept of co-creation, we are extending a hand to our end users – you, the students – to actively and together with us, the programme managers, directors, coordinators, teaching staff and some second-year Eurocultures, jointly come up with ideas on how to adapt to the demands and challenges of 21st century Europe in a global context.

Some of the questions that may offer a starting point for discussions are:

  • How can we build a more inclusive and diverse study body and curriculum?
  • How can we bridge theory and practice in innovative, creative ways?
  • How can we capitalise on the richness of the programme to promote intra-university exchanges and lines of communication?
  • In what ways can social and psychological well-being be promoted and supported in super-mobile programme such as Euroculture?
  • How can Erasmus Mundus programmes such as Euroculture promote the UN sustainable goals in their own actions and structures?

Content & Structure

Through an intensive and structured lightening brainstorming session on Sunday, June 26th, we will hash out the topics that will lead to smaller group clusters and focused discussions, accompanied by facilitators.

Our work will be guided by the keynote address on Monday, June 27th, entitled, “How co-creation can save democracy”, by our special guest Ms Stella Toonen, a foremost expert on co-creation in Europe and the developer of this project structure.

This input will lead to project mapping exercises, storyboarding, testing ideas, and prototyping on Wednesday, June 29th. The sessions on Friday, July 01 will be dedicated to final prototyping and the (creative!) presentation of proposals during the roundtable discussion involving students, programme coordinators, directors of study and more!

Together, we can create a utopic, yet realistic and sustainable vision of Euroculture for the years to come!

*A detailed schedule will be presented at the project kick-off on Sunday, June 26th at 2pm.
