Euroculture 25th Anniversary

Celebrating a quarter of a century of the MA programme

In 2023 the Euroculture MA programme will celebrate its 25th anniversary! During the annual Intensive Programme of 2023, organized at Palacký University Olomouc, there will be a series of special festive activities taking place on June 30 and July 1.

These festive activities will take place under the umbrella of the topic

A Dynamic Europe:
Stories of Transformation and Adaptation

25 Years of Euroculture

In 1998, the Master’s programme Euroculture was launched with the aim of offering a European studies curriculum that puts the interplay of society, politics and culture in Europe at the heart of the curriculum and preparing young people for playing a role in this dynamic field. Among other topics, the programme was designed to focus on how Europe and European integration can be contextualised and what these concepts might mean to European citizens. The 25th anniversary of the programme offers an opportunity to look back, evaluate and discuss both historical and contemporary developments in a dynamic Europe. We want to reflect upon the changes in the field of European studies over the last 25 years and what we might need for the near future. This will be done by means of a keynote lecture and roundtable discussion, an academic conference, a career day, a discussion on the content and organization of the MA, a reflection on how alumni see the relation between their career and Euroculture, and by social events between staff, students and alumni.

To give you an idea of the agenda, the festivities for now look as follows:

  1. Friday morning (30 June): Conference for students, staff and (invited) alumni
  2. Friday afternoon (30 June)
    1. Career Day for all students with workshops/presentations by (invited) alumni
    2. Smaller academic conference setting for staff and (invited) alumni
  3. Friday evening (30 June): social event for students, alumni and staff
  4. Saturday morning (1 July): broader alumni event with staff and alumni
(IP: Saturday morning (1 July): students work on their projects)
(IP: Saturday afternoon (1 July): staff and alumni will attend project presentations by the students + IP award ceremony)
  5. Saturday evening (1 July): Gala dinner for students, (invited) alumni and staff

We hope to celebrate this anniversary with some of the founders of Euroculture, current and former management staff members of the partner universities, teachers, representatives of associate partners, alumni and students!
